Helpful Tips when
caring for Green Oak Furniture
Although
the seasoning process takes place over a 4 year period the first 6
to 9 months are going to be the most significant.
During this time it is useful to keep your furniture well oiled to
help balance the seasoning process. Any Danish or Teak oil will do,
apply in the evening and leave to dry overnight. (Always read the
safety instructions on the product before using.)
After oiling you may find slight water marks occuring should it
rain, if this does happen simply wipe over the area with oil to
cover them.
Oak has a natural tannin in it which may leech out during the 1st
year. If this does happen it is nothing to worry about. On most
natural surfaces it will not be seen, however if you have a new
patio area it may leave a brown stain, if this becomes unsightly it
can be removed with bleach. Just leave the bleach to work and when
the stain has gone rinse of the bleach.
(Do not get it on your clothes when rinsing off.
Warning:
Bleach may remove the colouring from man made flagstones, try it on
a small area first. Wood reviver can be used to remove the stain,
which is a natural die, if bleach is found to be too strong.
